TC12 - Laboratory Assistant

Today, we are proud to offer a temporary position for a Lab Assistant to work in a Research and Development lab for a Fortune 500 company in Indianapolis, IN. The primary responsibilities will be to pick-up and deliver all glassware on a daily basis. Also daily washing and drying of all glassware from several buildings in the RD group. It will be necessary to provide 24 hour turnaround time of all glassware to correct the correct locations. The assistant will check in all daily chemical and non-chemical orders using Microsoft Access Barcode, all incoming chemicals using chemical tracking program, and deliver all chemical and non-chemical orders to proper location assuring all temperature storage requirements are met. Skill requirement: Minimum High School diploma/GED. General chemical knowledge is recommended Strong computer skills required Proficient in Symyx Logistics Chemical Tracking Software Must be very organized, efficient and have great attention to detail Operate motorized pallet jack Knowledgeable in Microsoft Access Interact with a diverse scientific community The assistant will need to follow all job safety requirements including wearing proper PPE at all times. Daily glassware washing/drying consisting of around 30 loads/day assuring all glassware is handled to minimize breakage and returned to original owner. Chemical/non-chemical order check-in consisting of around 20-30 packages/day assuring chemicals arrived without any breakage/leakage during transit. Properly bar-coding all incoming daily chemicals to correct owner and lab for tracking purposes. Top 3 most important success factors for candidate: Candidate work history and experience must indicate and provide examples of an ability to multitask and think through situations independently. Work history and experience needs to display a solid work ethic with professional considerations Levels of initiative and successful teamwork will be strongly considered. This is a long term contract position (12 months or longer) and is located in Indianapolis, IN. Hours are 7:30am - 4:30pm - Monday through Friday All candidates should be capable of passing a 7 year criminal background investigation and drug screen for consideration. Important information.
