TEACHER NON-CERTIFIED
Evergreen Center is a private residential school for children employing over 300 staff and serving over 100 families. Evergreen Center provides living and learning environments for persons with developmental disabilities diagnosed with multiple disabilities including autism, physical disabilities, neurological problems, and behavior disorders.
I. QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree granted from an accredited national or regional institution. Individuals with significant experience in working with multiply handicapped persons who are enrolled in degree programs will be considered.
B. WORK EXPERIENCE
At least one years of experience preferred in human service programs for persons with developmental disabilities. Must possess the ability to communicate effectively with all students, their families, staff, management personnel and public safety officials.C. WORKING CONDITIONS
D. LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to communicate effectively with staff orally and in writing in the English Language. Ability to provide language model and language instruction for students with disabilities who are learning the English Language. Skilled in interpersonal communication with people in need of assistance. Ability to express patience and professionalism while using good judgment. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to write reports and documentation while maintaining compliance to organizational and regulatory policies.
E. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Knowledge of arithmetic and their applications, and ability to perform these mathematical operations.
F. REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to tolerate interruptions and still be able to prioritize and focus to meet standards of quality in accuracy, attention to detail and time constraints. Ability to learn policies and procedures and apply them to various circumstances including the ability to interpret needs and respond in standardized situations. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
G. OTHER SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS
Availability to work nights, and early mornings, and/or to travel on an as needed basis.

I. PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Hearing. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make discriminations in sound.
Sedentary Work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
Visual Acuity. The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data; viewing a computer screen, extensive reading.
The employee must be able to complete restraint training and restrain a student when necessary.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee may be required to periodically stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee may be required to occasionally climb or balance.

III. SUPERVISION/REPORTING:
The Teacher reports directly to the Head Teacher-Certified or Head Teacher for Community Living who is assigned to the unit or residence during scheduled hours.

IV. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Teacher is responsible for implementation of specific instructional activities and treatment programs as designated by the Individual Education Plans and Individual Service Plans. Supervisor will insert numerical ratings directly beside each job responsibility during the employee's performance evaluation.
Collects and records data regarding daily student performance in defined instructional and behavioral areas.
Participates in analysis of behavioral data including charting, completion of summary reports, and documentation of functional assessments.
Participates in team meetings and decision-making concerning program design and modification for individual students.
Supervises instructional activities in classroom, campus, and community settings as defined by Individual Education Plans and Individual Service Plans.
Develops specific educational and treatment objectives for review by the Head Teacher-Certified and/or the Head Teacher for Community Living, who in conjunction with the Educational Team Supervisor draft the Individual Education Plans and Individual Service Plans.
Designs specific curriculum materials and activities as assigned by the Head Teacher-Certified and/or Head Teacher for Community Living.
Monitors all aspects of the health and safety of students assigned to the unit.
Participates in in-service training as required by agency policy.
Performs other reasonably related duties as assigned by unit supervisory staff, Behavioral Educational Team Supervisor, Vice President of Program Operations, or the Executive Director.
