Catholic Education Services is committed to increasing the number of indigenous teachers employed within catholic schools.
Catholic Education Services Cairns is offering two teaching scholarships to the value of $20,000 to assist in the completion of a 4-year teaching degree at James Cook University, Cairns commencing in the 2012 academic year.
Each scholarship entitles the successful candidate to an amount of $5,000 per year for full-time students (pro-rata for part time students) towards the purchase of text books, resources and/or HECS fees.
Applicants must be:
- Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent
- Supportive of the ethos of Catholic Education
- Intending or currently studying a teaching degree at James Cook University Cairns - if currently studying, documentary evidence of enrolment must be provided.
Current Year 12 students may apply
Scholarships holders must successfully complete the academic program for each semester to maintain eligibility for funding.
