Team Lead, Underwriting Job in Toronto M5C2V6, Ontario Canada

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review of escalated files from team members, lenders and internal sales staff.
  • Perform regular coaching with staff to facilitate their development and to maximize the performance of the team.
  • Conduct team meetings as required to keep staff informed of business initiatives and objectives.
  • Monitor the underwriting and phone queues to ensure service standards are being maintained.
  • Manage the work and vacation schedules for the team.
  • Effectively negotiate and resolve customer concerns while adhering to the company’s risk management objectives.
  • Develop and build strategic lender relationships.
  • Perform other duties and assist with special projects to support underwriting and other operational functions, as required.
  • REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    • 7-10 years of progressive Underwriting experience.
    • Exceptional communication and problem solving skills.
    • Effective analytical skills with attention to detail.
    • Strong people management skills and an ability to motivate team members.
    • Ability to work within a fast-paced and time-sensitive environment.
    • Superior customer service skills.
    • Ability to lead a team and to facilitate a culture of excellence.
    • University degree preferred.
