Team Leader - Global Markets – Product Control
Role Purpose
To provide timely, accurate, fully substantiated and compliant financial and management reporting of Rates and Rates Collateral businesses, through day-to-day management of a team of product controllers in:
• Ensure completeness of Pl and balance sheet substantiation of the general ledger timely clearance of breaks.
• Work with valuation and accounting controls and Operations to ensure accuracy and completeness of balances passing to the general ledger
• Establishing and implementing correct accounting for all products
• Liaising with Auditors (internal and external)
• Review of due diligence to ensure booking of trades generates correct automated accounting; performing post implementation reviews to ensure same
• Analytical review to provide meaningful business-informed commentary on the financials and Group IFRS disclosures
• Reduction of operational risk and cost through automation and process efficiency projects
• Training of team to ensure that they deliver a skilled, efficient, informed, value-added service
• Effective communication with stakeholders and other support teams and escalation of major issues to line management as appropriate
The position will report to a Manager of Rates BFC within Global Markets – Product Control. This is a ‘hands-on’ position with accounting and balance sheet control procedures. This challenging role would be ideally suited to an individual with a sound knowledge of the controls necessary to support a fast moving derivatives environment. The individual will need to be innovative and contribute to the implementation of the control infrastructure necessary to support a complex global derivatives business.
Knowledge Experience / Qualifications
Education Experience
• A levels (or equivalent)
• University degree (Class 2:1 or equivalent) – Relevant degree
• Accounting qualification
• Product control experience from major investment bank within Rates, Fixed Income, Credit and/ or Structured Credit
• Supervisory experience
• IFRS accounting knowledge will be considered an advantage (hedging, pl recognition, securitisation)
• Demonstrated ability to implement change, particularly in improvement of controls, automation.
• Solid product knowledge – Swaps, CDS, Bonds, Futures, Structured Products
• Market awareness
