This position is on the Global Financial Institutions (GFI) Complex Credit Underwriting Team. The Team Lead will be responsible for a large portfolio of global banking groups and their subsidiaries.
Responsibilities
The primary areas of responsibility for the role are as follows:
- Managing a team of credit analysts in various locations.
- Managing the region's counterparty annual review process, ad hoc credit reports, including reviewing the credit underwriting packages produced by the credit analysts.
- Approving credit limits and transactional requests within delegated approval authority.
- Continuously monitoring the approved credit exposure and financial condition of assigned counterparts and ensuring the risk ratings are accurate and timely.
- Assisting relationship managers and other senior officers with structuring, pricing and documentation of transactions (often in conjunction with the GFI International Credit Products Group, the Risk Mitigation Team and WFSLLC trading units).
- Ensuring that Adaptiv and other systems of record accurately reflect approved credit terms and conditions including limits, tenors and risk ratings.
- Preparing and reviewing reports on portfolio performance for senior management and participating in senior management briefings.
- Ensuring conformity with GFI domestic and international, Wells Fargo and regulatory policies.
- Ensuring ongoing improvement in credit analysis and monitoring processes. Regular communication of suggested recommendations to the Complex Credit Team Manager and the Credit Administration Strategy and Oversight Manager to ensure maximum efficiency of underwriting resources and consistency in risk management.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare compelling credit documents based on limited publically available sources.
Requirements
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- Extensive credit underwriting experience and prior management experience.
- Ability to manage a global team, and to lead and motivate across cultures, is essential.
- Strong experience underwriting for financial institutions, particularly large complex banks, and broker dealers.
- Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and, continually work under tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated knowledge of GFI and capital markets products and services, and also current economic, political and regulatory events and issues affecting banks and broker dealers globally.
- Strong understanding of the US regulatory environment.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Completion of a formal credit training program.
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent).
- MBA preferred.
- Experience using CreditView.
