Currently, Meijer is looking for a Team Member Relations Manager. The individual selected for this position will be responsible for developing strategies, tactics and projects to obtain organizational changes that affect team members, store operations, management. Maintaining strong relationships with all levels of Meijer leadership and union free operation as well as union officers as assigned. Skilled ability to lead initiatives for union-free operations and potentially administer and negotiate collective bargaining agreements. Effectively administers policies, procedures and work rules in both represented and non-represented work locations while providing Human Resources coordination among and between Regional Human Resources, Corporate Human Resources, Legal and other stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading organizational efforts to maintain and improve team member relations in non-represented stores to mitigate union vulnerability; managing solicitation and distribution issues, and directing management issue free response
- Partnering with Corporate Labor Relations in preparation, implementation and negotiation of all collective bargaining agreements including execution of final settlements
- Providing guidance, counsel and appropriate assistance to management, Regional Human Resources and other stakeholders on the administration of union free initiatives, policies, practices and procedures, including case management, and general labor relations matters
- Maintaining and primarily pursuing positive and productive working relationships with team members and their management, and secondarily with unions and their representatives - effectively interacting with team members regardless of represented or non-represented status to support organizational objectives
- Performing and assisting with the development, management and implementation of a broad variety of projects designed to improve operational effectiveness, team member satisfaction and/or Human Resource services

- Bachelor's degree in a related field of study (Business, Labor Relations or Human Resources) required
- Master's degree in a related field highly desirable
- SPHR or PHR certification preferred
- 4 years of management experience working in employee relations, including union avoidance initiatives, or 6 years of work experience in labor relations; or the equivalent
- Understanding laws and regulations governing labor relations, employee treatment (EEOC, FMLA, etc) and wage and hours preferred
- Thorough working knowledge with the purpose of Human Resources including applicable policies and procedures and their effective administration preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and positively interact with all levels of management including union leadership is required
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with proven results achieving conflict resolution is required
