The role: Tech Lead/Manager, YouTube
As a Tech Lead/Manager (TLM) at YouTube, you will provide technical leadership over a team of highly talented software engineers. You will be responsible for the overall planning, execution, and success of complex technical projects. This position is not a pure management position; TLMs are expected to contribute technically to their project. Our interview process will emphasize technical skills and management/organizational skills equally.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership to a group of engineers in an innovative and fast-paced environment.
- Own and drive complex technical projects from the planning stage through execution.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS/MSCS degree (In lieu of degree, 4 years relevant work experience).
- 5 years relevant work experience (including time working towards advanced degrees).
Preferred Qualifications:
- 8 years relevant work experience, including 6 years industry experience.
- Strong analytical skills with previous experience working with complex data sets.
- Strong programming capabilities in at least one of the following: Java, C++ or Python.
- Demonstrated expertise in problem solving and technical innovation.
- Strong distributed systems and architecture knowledge.
- Background in Web applications, data mining, information retrieval and multi-tiered systems a plus.
