Tech Rep Job in Wichita 67208, Kansas US

The standard function of the position is to learn to provide a complicated level of technical support and the highest level of customer service while servicing, inspecting and/or installing SimplexGrinnell products.  These products include fire alarm, sound, CCTV, communications, and nurse call.

 
Learns to reads and understand complicated blueprints, diagrams, schematics, submittals, software/systems programs, and operation/product manuals. Assist in conducting pre-construction review of submittals and drawings with the installer. Assist with providing technical advice during initial start up of control panels before installer wiring is connected. Understands the importance of providing quality service, inspections and technical installation support. 
 
Assist in conducting systems/Panel Programming. Assist in conducting system check in preparation for functional test. Provide assistance with one complete, functional test of the system.  Assist in providing system training as directed to customer representatives.
 
Required to lift and or carry equipment and tools, which may weigh over forty (40) pounds. Working environment may involve climbing ladders and scaffoldings with equipment, upwards to forty (40) feet.  Capable of working in cramped work spaces such as ducts, crawl spaces above ceilings,
etc.
 
Complete reports and communicate to the customer any errors or defects that may keep a system from functioning properly. Complete all administrative duties in a timely and professional manner.  Will be required to be "on call" and may be required to work overtime.
 
 
 
 

High school diploma or equivalent.  Two (2) years directly related experience serving SimplexGrinnell or industry related equipment.  Working knowledge of test equipment to include multi-meters, digital analyzers, battery analyzers, frequency meters, decibel meters and communication devices.  Ability to set up, program, and test basic TCP/IP networks.  Ability to program, test, and certify electronic systems including fire alarm, security, CCTV, and access control systems is preferred.  Experience in maintaining job site documentation (example, time sheets, as-built drawings).  Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications used in installation activities.  Proficient in use and application of personal computers including Microsoft Office Suite.  A valid driver's license with a good driving record.   Strong troubleshooting skills.
