Asset Optimization and Trading (AOT) is the Business Division where all Asset Optimization and Trading activities are centralized for the Vattenfall Group, also known as Vattenfall Energy Trading (VET). Our activities are multi-site located across Europe with more than 600 professionals working from Sweden, Germany, The Netherlands, Denmark and Poland. We trade the full range of energy commodities such as electricity, gas, oil, coal, freight, renewable energies and emissions, take responsibility for a diversified sourcing of power, fuels and carbon credits and optimise the running and hedging of Vattenfall’s generation assets. These efforts are the basis for maximum profitability and continuous business growth.

Technical Analyst / Trader
What you will do
From day to day you will have several tasks and responsibilities. You will analyse the global markets (Energy, Emissions, FX, Equities) with focus on chart and price formation analysis. You will develop and implement technical trading as well as automated trading tools. Also you will develop and implement advanced technical trading strategies. Naturally, you will be involved in maintaining and improving current the database and its analysis. In the position you will also provide technical analytical support to the AOT trading teams on ad hoc market developments. Be involved with eagerly searching for trading opportunities and elaborate business cases in corporation with Senior Traders. You will generate and distribute technical scorecard and trading recommendation among the members of the AOT Trading teams. Finally, you will support the organisation in rolling out technical trading approach across locations
What we are looking for
Hard skills
- University degree level with mathematical/technical and/or financial/econometrical background
- Extensive experience and knowledge of technical analysis
- Affinity to global commodity and equity markets; wide understanding of macroeconomics and its impact on commodity prices
- Excellent quantitative, programming and model building skills
- Excellent sound knowledge of option theory, option trading experience advantageous
Soft skills
- Very strong team player who is proactively supporting the team approach and communicates well across all levels of the organisation
- Good negotiation skills in English (written and spoken), further language skills advantageous
- Strong profit and performance orientation and capability to deliver highest value propositions
- Readiness to take on responsibility
- Natural ability to understand the cause of actions and willingness to take own initiatives
- Minimum of 2 years working experience in trading environment
