Technical Consultant/ Developer (Experience in Life Insurance) recruitment

Our client is a major reinsurer with a worldwide presence. They are looking for a Technical Consultant to be based in Hong Kong, to support and continuously improve the business. The job exists to ensure highest quality client service in the integration and support at client sites. In addition the role will be involved in supporting technical product development activities.

Responsibilities:

• Coding for IT integration into client systems

• IT maintenance including processing change requests

• Project and client relationship management

• The candidate will work closely with internal implementation teams on client implementations

• Ability and willingness to assist in technical product development activities

• Readiness to travel is essential

Requirements:

General

• At least 5 years experience in software development of enterprise web applications within the last 7 years, with 3 years experience in IT implementation of package solutions

• You will interface with clients and be involved in defining technical specifications and co-ordinating the delivery of customised solutions.

• Credibility with clients is essential. You should be able to present concepts and ideas in a concise, persuasive manner and will have a track record in managing relationships across both business and technical disciplines.

• Should have a logical and systemic approach to problem solving

• Ideally, basic familiarity with life insurance

• Some exposure to or knowledge of rule processing engines

• English, Cantonese and Mandarin fluency.

IT skills

• Windows programming, ActiveX, COM fundamentals, Visual Basic, scripting

• System integration skills, e.g. integrating Microsoft platform with host and mid-range systems

• System testing skills and methodologies

• Windows

• Knowledge of internet/intranet protocols (with application development experience would be an advantage.)

• Experience with XML and related standards would be an advantage

• Client / server concept, multi-users applications experience

• Source code control

• MS-Word, MS-PowerPoint, MS-Excel, MS Access, MS-Project, MS-Visio
