Position Description Level 4 - Leads the development and maintenance of mechanical/structural engineering product definition. Oversees the development and design of layouts and the modification of existing designs to satisfy customer and production requirements. Develops product definition based upon Boeing requirements and parameters. Coordinates development of product definition with internal/external parties to ensure compliance with applicable standards, requirements and design parameters as well as product functionality. Integrates work statement, work scope and work transfer packages with internal and external customers to requirements. Oversees, directs and integrates product definition data packages, requirements and parameters across internal and external business partners and products to provide a functional end-product. Investigates and resolves complex manufacturing process or engineering related issues. Verifies accuracy of technical and non-technical data produced by others. Develops, validates and maintains new processes and procedures to increase productivity and reduce costs. Works under minimal direction. Level 5 - Provides advice and technical guidance on all aspects of mechanical and structural design. Coordinates the integration of design parts, plans and tools to support manufacturing. Guides incorporation of new design technology into the development of a final product. Oversees the development/validation of statements of work to ensure completeness and accuracy of the statements. Leads the integration of product definition data requirements across internal and external business partners to deliver a functional end-product. Analyzes and resolves unusually complex design and manufacturing problems to improve engineering and manufacturing processes. Oversees the validation of technical data. Oversees the development, introduction, validation and maintenance of processes and procedures across major programs. Leads integrated engineering meetings to resolve complex problems and document solutions related to processes and procedures. Works under consultative direction. Other Job related information Support the CEA organization in the configuration definition and integration of the Product Development family of airplanes. Work in a team environment completing process driven requirements in support of Airplane Configuration development such as: Develop surface definition of fuselage, wing, control surface and other geometries using CATIA V5 and ENOVIA. Facilitate Airplane level integration efforts using group established tools and processes. Work across integrated product teams to develop Airplane Configuration definition in a digital (CAD) environment. Drawing figures, plan forms, centerline, fuselage diagrams, inboard profiles, pitch/roll diagrams, wetted area summaries, spatial integration, analyses work, etc. Position requires proficiency in CATIA V5 and ENOVIA. Experience using CATIA surfacing tool suite a plus. DMU or IVT capability in support of Physical Integration preferred. Complete understanding of and ability to apply accepted drafting principles, concepts, and practices. Knowledge of Boeing Commercial Airplane families and aircraft in general preferred. Specific skills include knowledge and/or experience working with Boeing software and basic computing operations (e.g. e-mail, World Wide Web access, MS Office software, and Adobe software applications). Able to work following existing processes as well as continuing process development in the group. Must be self motivated and work well with others in a multi-discipline team environment.
