We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client, for a Technical Estimator.
Our client is a unique business who specialise in designing, building and manufacturing precision press tools and such components. The Company supplies parts and expertise services to customers from a number of sectors which include: Telecommunications, Plumbing, IT, Automotive, Aerospace, Medical etc.
The Company has undergone, and is continuing to undergo, aggressive change management initiatives designed to see it compete on a global basis into the future. Due to this, they require more experienced professionals to join their team and help in the growth and continued success.
The ideal Technical Estimator MUST have:
- HNC/Technical/ Craft Apprenticeship and/or subsequent application of precision press tooling.
- Application of appropriate 2D/3D CAD software
- Commercial awareness in appropriate sectors - Key Sectors include Automotive, Medical, Micro-Engineering, Renewable, Aerospace.
- Knowledge of 20tonne - 100tonne presses
- Knowledge of complex carbide progression dies
- Excellent communication skills at all levels
- Self driven, assertive with good people skills.
- Advanced Word, Excel and CRM skills.
In addition, having:
_ CAD 3D Solidworks knowledge and application
- Knowledge of Automation and Cellular Manufacturing
- Project management skills
- Microsoft Project experience
would also benefit candidates wishing to apply for this role.
The successful Technical Estimator will be responsible for acting as the `link` between the Sales and Technical teams, provide the Sales function with accurate and timely estimates for projects, tooling and production parts. There is a need to use innovation and to draw on previous experience to provide appropriate solutions to satisfy customer needs.
Daily Tasks and Responsibilities, include:
- Work directly with customers taking briefs for New Product (or Tool) specifications and using knowledge of progression press tools to translate these into costings for Sales Marketing managers.
- Provide all costs associated with new projects and modifications of existing tools.
- Be responsible for/undertake front line liaison with customers at all stages of the sales and New Product Development process to include transition to manufacturing process.
- Evaluate enquiries as to make or buy decisions.
- Generate initial quotations for new enquiries. On acceptance of initial quote (possibly 1 in 20) generate detailed quotation following detailed consultation with customer.
- Monitor actual costs against estimate and make required adjustments when appropriate.
- Liaise with suppliers on raw materials and subcontract processes.
- Costing of VA/VE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) initiatives.
- Be responsible for the tooling design library.
- Provide support and assistance to the project Manager to ensure successful management of all projects including new, modifications and improvements projects.
- Maintain Enquiry and tooling logs.
This is a permanent position for the successful Press Tool Technical Estimator, with a salary dependent upon experience.
