Job Purpose
- To drive the technical direction of core firewall and intrusion detection systems (IDS) technology, advising on best practice and involved in creating and maintaining standards.
- To be the Technical Lead on multiple projects, providing direction and support to other team members, planning and scheduling own work and others to ensure delivery within the constraints of time, budget and quality.
- To propose, review and authorise infrastructure solutions that are in line with Client standards
Main Activities
Technical Direction
- Develop and maintain an in-depth technical knowledge of your technical specialism and a broader specialist base as new technologies emerge.
- Influence the creation of standards in your technical specialism and advice on best practice.
- Influence the development of strategy in your technical specialism
Relationship Management
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues within the Group, in particular technical leads and other technical authorities responsible for creating and maintaining standards in your specialism
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with project and programme managers.
- Effectively participate in project and technical meetings, representing both Infrastructure Projects Technical Services and Firewall projects.
Team Working
- Actively participate in team meetings, sharing information on new technologies, tools, projects that would be beneficial to others.
- Provide support and direction to other team members.
- Work collaboratively with the team and other technical areas in support of common goals and initiatives.
- Develop a technical training plan to ensure that team skills are kept up to date and relevant to the Client.
- Act as first point of escalation for the Team and apply technical knowledge acquired to resolve issues and develop further the technical capability.
- Ensuring that project solutions are designed to operate efficiently and within governance
Qualifications
What we're looking for
- Significant experience working in a technical analyst role within a large IT environment preferably within a financial organisation
- Significant experience of corporate High Availability Firewall solutions (design, build and implementation) on the Nokia range of IP devices running Checkpoint Firewall-1 software (versions NG NGX)
- Proven success in delivery of high quality, cost effective Firewall IDS solutions in a complex environment
- Proven ability to plan and execute workload in a dynamic environment
- Proven ability to multi-task, prioritise, with efficient time management
- Professional accreditation in relevant technical disciplines - CCSA / CCSE / CCNA
