Job Description – Technical Installation Specialist

 

Summary of Responsibilities

The Technical Specialist will provide technical support for customers, which will include, but not limited to, installation, service and repair of mobile video, data and voice products. The Specialist will also provide ongoing service and support to various customers for both new and existing equipment. The Technical Specialist will also be responsible for providing ongoing technical and operator training at various field locations. Onsite service and support is required along with remote computer and phone support as well. This position requires experience within a Field Service organization, preferably within the computer/two-way radio industry. This position also requires a strong set of electrical skills coupled with basic storage server knowledge. This position will need to interface directly with customers and should possess a strong set of communication skills.

 

Job Responsibilities

·         Perform technical support for mobile video, voice and data

·         Provide on-site installation and training required for the effective deployment of new video, voice or data systems. (35-40% travel statewide required).

·         Provide on-call technical support for customers in the troubleshooting and repair of this technology.

·         Provide ongoing operator training/support for various customers/sales staff

·         The candidate must be able to present themselves in a professional manner at all times and will be expected to interface with upper management at different customer locations.

·         This position requires the ability to fully understand, service, and repair integrated systems that includes and is not limited in vehicle voice, data and video

·         This position also requires good communication skills, which are required when dealing with outside vendors along with internal team members.

·         Managing implementation, materials, equipment and supplies for projects up to one month in length

 

Job Requirements

·         Qualifications require a thorough knowledge of installation, operation and troubleshooting in client software   server software

·         Prefer a minimum of an associate’s degree in Electronics, Computer Science or related discipline. Bachelors degree in Electrical, Computer or Electronic Engineering Technology a plus. Substantial experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.

·         Passionate, energetic and has friendly style wanting to delight customers, above and beyond the call of duty

·         Attention to detail, accountability, and self-motivation

·         Ability to be flexible with daily tasks, calls emails

·         Strong trouble shooting skills (i.e. strong analytical and investigative skills)

·         Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.

·         Mature judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.

·         Interest in a small-company culture / high-growth atmosphere / fast paced environment

·         Establishes and maintains relationships and make active contributions to technical issues and discussions.

·         Interest in learning a detailed product line

·         No criminal background and ability to pass background check, reference check and drug screening

·         Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.

·         Long periods of standing on your feet and bending/crawling through vehicles

·         Ability to lift up to 50lbs

·         Able to persist and finish projects despite obstacles, or redirect when necessary; able to follow instructions or take action and address opportunities with little supervision; able to take extra steps to prevent mistakes or create opportunities.
