Technical Lead

Operational Risk IT is looking for a strong lead to strengthen the newly formed delivery team within Control IT intelligence capability. We are looking for candidates that are capable of providing technical and development process leadership to a group of senior vendor consultants, as well as facing off to senior UBS management on all technical aspects of the implementation.
The key responsibilities of the systems engineer are:
- to act as key contact person for business stakeholders regarding their technology requirements, acting as a bridge between business and technology experts
- to specify the target deployment architecture of the Fraud solution together with vendor consultants
- to adhere to the UBS policies regarding third party software integration
- to provision for the appropriate solution hardware
- to work closely with IT architects and other IT development teams within the organisation to design solid application interfaces for the Fraud solution
- to coordinate the software upgrades and testing with external vendors, acting as a key contact for any questions or issues
- to quality check the vendor deliverables, including test case creation and review, design review, code review, test execution etc.
- to support User Acceptance Testing with business and IT stakeholders
Job Requirements
You are/have…
- An IT graduate with a good honours degree
- Experience in requirements gathering and software development in a distributed environment within the financial services industry, preferably in investment banking and reference data handling
- Proven experience with at least 2 of the key technologies Java/J2EE, Websphere 7, Oracle 11g, SAS BI, Detica
- Proven experience in technical designs of DB centric solutions, preferably on a Linux/UNIX platform
- Proven experience in quality control in terms of testing, code review etc.
- Thorough understanding of software development, configuration management, source code management, and software release processes
- Experience with agile development methods (advantageous, but not a must)
- Knowledge of investment banking business products and processes (advantageous, but not a must)
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with close attention to detail
- A self-starter who is highly pro-active, committed, reliable and responsive
- The ability to manage dynamic situations and changing priorities in a highly pressurised global environment, while maintaining a structured approach
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- German skills which are preferable, but not essential
