The role: Technical Lead Manager, Storage Software Development Like Google's own ambitions, the work of a Software Engineer (SWE) goes way beyond just Search. SWE Managers have not only the technical chops to roll up their sleeves and provide technical leadership to major projects, but also manage a team of engineers. You not only optimize your own code but make sure engineers are able to optimize theirs. As a SWE Manager you manage your project goals, contribute to product strategy and help develop your team. SWE teams work all across the company, in areas such as information retrieval, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, security, data compression, user interface design; the list goes on and is growing every day. Operating with scale and speed, our world-class software engineers are just getting started -- and as a manager, you guide the way. With a broad technical and leadership expertise, you manage teams of engineers across multiple team and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally. Responsibilities: Define high level architecture, and work conjointly with senior developers across the team on design. Work closely with stakeholders (client team, QA and program management) to provide status, iterative releases, and make design decisions throughout the development process. Drive all aspects of the development lifecycle for features including; requirements definition, design, implementation, unit testing, and integration. Oversee design, code, and test plan reviews to ensure high quality deliverables. Review and approve the detailed designs. Minimum Qualifications: BA/BS in Computer Science or related technical field (In lieu of degree, 4 years relevant work experience). Preferred Qualifications: MS degree. 5 years of successful software engineering management experience. 5 years embedded software, development experience. Experience with some of the following: HTML, Java, JavaScript, Swing, JSP, HTML, CSS, UML, Object-Oriented methodologies, and user experience design Strong knowledge of iSCSI SAN, SAS/SATA, RAID, Fibre-Channel
