Chronos Consulting's client is a global leader in inspection and testing services with over 60,000 employees and 1000 offices and laboratories worldwide. They are expanding aggressively in the Food Industry and seeking a leader to manage and develop the auditors in USA and Canada. They provide auditing and certifications for compliance for the Food industry specific standards and value added services.

We are seeking a Technical Manager with experience with food regulatory requirements for an exciting opportunity to maintain and improve food technical performance levels, as well as both lead ( 20 - 50 auditors) and train the audit team. We are looking for someone with strong leadership and team building skills who understands the market trends and is a generalist in the food industry.

The Role:

Reporting to the Global Food Manager, you will be accountable for:

Developing and continually improving specifications for on-site audit effectiveness and efficiency and fostering inter-affiliate cooperation and sharing of audit best practice.

Managing training and coaching to ensure a consistent on-site audit approach of food operations as well as training on new food procedures or new product protocol training.

Undertaking technical bench marking between affiliates to facilitate continuous improvement.

Representing the organization at Food Technical Committee Meetings to lobby and influence key stake holders in areas supporting the business.

Managing and ensuring that local US food operation meets the global/local procedures including meeting accreditation requirements, defining the most efficient way to carry out activities, and ensuring procedures are user friendly.

Defining the requirements for Accreditation Bodies as well as training and managing staff to ensure compliance of internal food operation to accreditation requirements.

Managing Level 1 and 2 audits to ensure effectiveness in identifying noncompliance and adherence to global procedures.

Providing technical sales support as well as technical support for global and local new product development (including managing product updates within the technical support system).

Managing and dealing with food customer complaint/appeals in according to global/local procedures.

The Requirements:

Food Sciences Degree with 8 - 10 years experience in the food industry.

Qualified Lead Auditor for GFSI, BRC, FSSC22000, or SQF with experience in programs such as ISO9000, ISO22000, BRC or other food safety management system.

2 + years as a Quality leader in a food manufacturing company would be a plus

Knowledge and experience in maintaining accreditation against ISO Guide 62 and/or ISO22003

Developed leadership skills with the ability to drive, lead change and manage a team of auditors.

Experience in delivering training programs and coaching auditors.

Adaptable, commercially minded with strong client facing communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with senior management government officials in the industry.

Ability to solve problems decisively as well as adapt to changing needs.

30 - 50 % travel required as required to client site.
