The ITT Exelis Air Traffic Management (ATM) Group is a recognized and growing entity that provides unsurpassed engineering, implementation, and information solutions for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). We are at the forefront in the FAA's NextGen long-term programs to replace the current radar-based air-traffic-control system with one that operates using satellites and a global positioning system.

Currently, ITT ATM has openings for a Technical Program Director position to support large complex communications, surveillance, and navigation systems development and integration programs in Herndon, VA. This position will be responsible for the cost, schedule and program performance. Candidates will be required to direct all phases of program execution from inception through completion and oversee technical, contracts, program control, and financial program elements. This will include but not be limited to the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, progress reports, corrective action plans, operating budgets, resource planning, schedule management, and financial terms/conditions of the contract. Candidates will also be the primary customer contact for program activities, leading program review sessions with the customer to discuss cost, schedule, and performance. This will include establishing milestones and monitoring adherence to master plans and schedules, identifying program problems and developing solutions, such as allocation of resources or changing contractual specifications. Directing the work of employees assigned to the program from technical, manufacturing and administrative areas is essential in this position.

Required Experience:

15+ Years of technical program related experience in a government contracting environment and an advanced degree in engineering, science or related technical field with comprehensive specialized experience in the management and oversight of technical over-arching inter-disciplinary project teams and programs.

Successful candidates must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information which requires US Citizenship

Desired Experience:

MS Degree is preferred.
Understanding of the FAA and the National Airspace System and its component systems is desired.EEO Statement
