Technical Project Manager
Position Description:
As Technical Project Manager you have responsibility for defining, planning, tracking and managing that are assigned for Information Technology Infrastructure environment. Ideally you will have 5 to 9+ years of relevant work experience in the IT Infrastructure environments. You are responsible for identifying key resources and providing the direction required for meeting the project objectives and financial expectations. You are responsible for ensuring appropriate management, customer and vendor involvement throughout the life of the project. You must be able to lead and motivate people and encourage teamwork. You must be able to communicate effectively between technical teams, senior management, and have a clear vision of what determines a successful product for the customer and for the company. You must be able to manage project schedules (via MS Project Server), task details and utilize project management tools including reports, tracking charts and checklists. You will manage change and take active leadership in timely decision making. You will have the ability to face up to issues squarely and early, resolve conflicts, admit to having problems and seek coaching openly, escalate if necessary, and generally champion the people and the project up, down, and across the organization. Your role will in some instances act as a Team Leader for a specified area of the PM organization. As leader, you will be accountable for mentoring, training, executing the PM standards, and contributing to the development and enhancement of PM processes.
Requirements:
- Technical Experience strongly preferred of EMC SAN, SQL Server, PolyServe, ESX VMware and Windows Servers PMP Certification Required. Thorough understanding of the PMI methodology.
- Proficient with MS Project Server
- 5 to 9+ years of Project Management experience, majority of which is within IT – Infrastructure and/or Health Care environment.
- Comprehensive IT – Infrastructure Project Management experience
- High energy and ability to deal with complex stressful environments
- Ability to act as a Lead PM for certain areas of the PM organization. This position will require this resource to mentor, train, manage resources reporting to them dotted-line. Act as the point person for resources that are assigned to their group. The lead will be accountable for managing their teams project portfolio, ensuring projects are managed to the PM Standards set forth by their management, effectively communicate project status, risks and issues effectively to management. Accountable for the administrative tasks that go along with managing/leading resources. Strong communication skills, ability to present to senior executive management at any given time. Must posses skills to effectively escalate high risk problems and issues, ability to drive them to resolution with minimal management involvement.).
- Strong business acumen (specifically assessing business readiness and mitigation plans)
- Proven experience managing large multimillion dollar projects that have significant business implications.
- Skills in Initiating, Planning, Executing, Controlling and Closing complex application/infrastructure implementation projects using a formal Project Management methodology.
- Demonstrated experience in building win-win relationships with client and IS Partners (IT – Applications)
- Successful record of Project Plan (resource, cost and schedule) management
- Discipline and rigor to optimally use the project management tools (e.g. MS Project Server)
- Applies Project Management principles and applicable client methodologies and standards to ensure successful project completion within the constraints of Scope, Schedule/Time, Budget/Cost, and quality.
- Experience with projects that have multiple stakeholders
- Developing and tracking project metrics to meet quality, cost and timeline expectations.
- Must have the commitment to produce and deliver high quality project plans, detailed schedules, budgets, status updates and all applicable reporting.
