Technical Project Manager recruitment
A vacancy exists for a Technical Delivery Manager within the Global Wholesale Banking Technology Operations (GWBTO) team located in Croydon. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing multiple technical projects using a variety of technologies across numerous technology platforms. The candidate will work closely with other technical and change management teams to ensure that all project technical changes are implemented in a highly controlled manner. The candidate will also be responsible for managing their project’s resource assignment and finances for the department.
Role Content
Leads a large project or multiple projects that are significant in scope and impact. Works independently, with limited direction, and is evaluated through end results. Initiates and provides leadership, strategic/tactical direction and planning input on all information technology and client/business area issues and in the development of an IT environment which meets current and anticipated business requirements and objectives. Participates with IT management in the development of technology products, service standards and development efforts that impact the client/business area. Serves as a single point of contact and the escalation point between the client/business area and internal IT management for the resolution of unresolved problems, complaints and complex service requests. Provides the client areas with technology products and service alternatives that improve the IT service delivery process.
Responsibilities
Project Management
- Accountable for the technical delivery of global projects within the Bank and working with external vendors.
- Plan, control, track and report program statuses across the various global organizations.
- Serves as a single point of contact and the escalation point between the client/business area and internal IT management for the resolution of unresolved problems, complaints and complex service requests.
- Provides transparent management reporting as it relates to the development approach, scope, methodology and complexity.
- Produce regular, thorough and accurate program status reports written at the appropriate target audience - from technical project team member to Senior Management. Participate in meetings with Senior Management and provide appropriate input and feedback.
- Accountable for the day-to-day technical leadership and program management.
- Ensure program changes are managed and executed properly.
- Ensure that program issues and risks are accurately logged, tracked, resolved and escalated appropriately.
- Management of inter and cross program dependencies.
- Ensuring the delivery of new products or services is appropriate to the level of quality, on time, within budget and in accordance with the program plan and governance arrangements.
Team Leadership
- Oversees technical team to manage technology deliverable, development and testing processes
- Develop and manage the Project teams and ensure a competent flexible, skilled and effective workforce exists at all times.
- Liaise with Business Partners, Vendors and Resource Managers to ensure that resources are planned, assigned and committed to the projects within your program.
- Develops and sponsors tactics to achieve strategic objectives across functional groups or within a business group.
- For all deliverables, ensure adherence to Bank of America processes and a standard of high quality.
- Work with Business Partner and Resource Managers to support Associate development activities and provide performance feedback.
- Close liaison with change management, the business community, technical groups within Bank of America globally and external vendors, as needed.
Requirements
Essential:
- Formal full end-to-end project management experience with a proven track record of successful project delivery is essential.
- A background in technical project management (software or infrastructure) is essential.
- Strong project management skills, a proven ability to deliver high-quality technical software development projects on time and within budget.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, ability to motivate team and drive execution, performance driven with the necessary intensity and optimism to succeed and deliver.
- A proven track record of working with and presenting to a Leadership Team.
- A disciplined thinker and capable of working across organizational boundaries in a very demanding, high-output environment.
- Outstanding organisational skills, attention to detail and accuracy are essential. Must be pro-active, adaptable and results driven.
- A team player who must be able to work under pressure, juggle multiple projects, using own initiative to meet deadlines and set priorities without close supervision.
- Interpersonal/communication skills are essential (must be able to facilitate, co-ordinate, negotiate, influence and motivate).
- An excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Project are essential). Strong working knowledge of PowerPoint and SharePoint would be beneficial.
- Project Management Professional (APM, PMI) or equivalent certification.
Desirable:
- Experience of working in a large financial organisation an advantage.
- Experience with SIX SIGMA/DMAIC phases is desirable
- Experience with Agile / eXtreme Programming project methodology and development teams an advantage
- Experience of international payments clearings and the technology used to process payments (SWIFT etc)
- Experience in working with colleagues in other locations
