Due to continued growth, we are now seeking a Technical Quality Engineer to join this leading global manufacturer of linear slide systems based in Tiverton, Devon.

Reporting directly to the Group Manufacturing Director, the Technical Quality Engineer will lead and implement improvement in their manufacturing operations and drive the development of a culture of high process capability to ensure very high levels of part compliance to specification. You will determine how products are made based on process capability and other trials, investigate and identify best practices and lead the manufacturing team in the implementation of the required changes. You will be responsible for the design, documentation and implementation of standard operating procedures for the production, measurement and other processes which drive manufacturing performance and quality. These will apply to the improvement of existing products and processes and to the specification and implementation of new ones.

The successful should be educated to HND level or higher and be experienced within a precision mechanical engineering environment in relevant technical, production and quality roles. You will have an understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and be experienced in working in a Lean Manufacturing environment. Trained in Six Sigma methodology, qualified to Green Belt or Black Belt level, you will be experienced in its successful implementation. You should be experienced in working in environments compliant with ISO9001 quality systems.

Good IT skills to include general communications and office applications as well as competence with relevant technical systems are required. You will have good project management skills and be experienced in the use of A3, 8D or other structured problem solving / improvement methods. You will require a proven ability to motivate and manage change.

In addition it would be an advantage to have knowledge of Precision grinding, turning and multi-axis CNC machining; Steel heat treatment and the bearing industry.
