Responsibilities: GENERAL SUMMARY / OVERVIEW STATEMENT: The Research Assistant/Sleep Reading Center Technician serves as an assistant to the Sleep Reading Center of the Sleep Medicine Division in studies designed to understand the links between sleep, behavior and health outcomes. The studies analyzed are from multi-site collaborations. Responsibilities include processing, editing, analyzing, quality checking, and maintaining databases of activity records (actigraphy) to estimate movement and sleep-wake times. The data will be obtained from studies obtained from clinical research sites across the US participating in NIH-funded multicenter studies. He/she will also be responsible for assisting in analyzing trends in data quality and assist staff in trouble shooting any quality control problems. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Processes, scores and generates reports for actigraphy recordings from studies conducted in diverse clinical sites across the US, applying study-specific analysis protocols. Maintains high levels of scoring reliability with other scorers and with him/herself, including completion of reliability scoring exercises. 2. Responsible for performing quality assessments of the ctigraphy studies, generating quality reports and filing and posting these on a study electronic directory. 3. Assists with updates to scoring manuals of procedures. 4. Assists with verification of software algorithms. 5. Assists supervisor in the preparation of grants, progress reports, manuscripts and presentations. 6. Assists supervisor with clerical and administrative duties associated with conferences, courses, site visits and other events. 7. Participates in regular Sleep Core/Committee meetings and, if necessary, oversees the administrative details associated with these meetings. 8. Performs other duties as required. Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor?s degree in health science, biology-related, or behavioral science area is required. SKILLS / ABILITIES / COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: ? High level of technical knowledge, communication and reasoning skills. ? Ability to function appropriately with limited supervision under sometimes stressful conditions. ? Effective interpersonal skills, able to work with others with minimal conflict. ? Must possess excellent organizational skills. ?
