Technical Sales Trainee Job in Twinburg 44087, Ohio US
Have you considered a career in technical sales?
You have an engineering degree, and you're focused on a career designing and improving products that will solve some problem or meet some need. Why would you ever consider a career in technical sales? You might be thinking that you didn't spend five years in school to waste your technical training in sales, or that it doesn't even relate to engineering. You might even think that you don’t know how to talk to people, or that it’s too hard to develop relationships. Actually, nothing could be further from the truth.
Regarding your concerns about your engineering skills and how they don't relate to sales. As an account manager, you will utilize your technical skills to help customers develop and implement the systems needed to improve their business. You will tap your engineering knowledge every single day, and you won't be sitting in a cubicle five days per week staring at a computer screen working with meticulous details.
In today’s economic environment, many companies have reduced their in-house engineering departments and rely on suppliers, like us, for technical assistance. You’ll have the opportunity to share your engineering knowledge and become a valuable resource to these companies. With the relationships you build throughout the industry you will have your finger on the pulse of what is happening. You will be key in identifying the right solutions for your customers. And our customers come from a variety of markets including:
• Automotive manufacturing
• Printing presses and high-speed copiers
• Mobile equipment used in construction, agriculture, and emergency services
• Conveyors and automated storage/retrieval systems
• Wind and solar energy
• And many more
Still not convinced? You don't think you know how to talk to people. No problem. We’ll provide professional training in selling techniques and enable you to hone your presentation skills through various assignments. And yes, you will be able to develop relationships, relationships built on trust, and respect and candor. No one pretends that sales is an easy field. If it were, more people would be entering the field. Sales is about relationships. It's about helping other people achieve their goals and solve their problems by introducing our solutions. It's not about forcing other people to buy things they don't want. It's about working hard to discover applications where our products/services will be useful, understanding clearly what the customer needs and wants, and working hard to provide it.
Most senior managers either started their career, or spent some time in sales. As you climb the ladder of success, it's extremely rare to find a purely technical person at the top. In fact, just about every job you hold in business will involve selling something. Why not take advantage of the opportunity to do it well? Your future begins with our technical sales trainee program. You won’t become bored simply sitting behind a desk; in addition to working on a variety of assignments at our headquarters in Twinsburg, Ohio, there will be projects out of the office that will help to develop your skills.
