Position Overview:
In addition to our product portfolio of polymers for oral and injectable controlled release (EUDRAGIT, RESOMER, Lakeshore Biomaterials), Evonik has drug delivery technologies and development capabilities. These technologies enable oral delivery of poorly soluble and permeable drugs as well as controlled release delivery of injectable drugs. Evonik provides development services and GMP manufacturing of clinical supplies for oral and injectable dosage forms. Evonik's Birmingham Laboratories site is also a commercial GMP manufacturing site for injectable products.
The Boston area has a high concentration of small and virtual pharmaceutical companies. These companies are developing oral and injectable drugs for which Evonik's drug delivery technologies and capabilities are an excellent fit. Many of these companies do not have laboratory capabilities, which provide an opportunity for Evonik's development services.
In the past, this territory was serviced by an account manager located in New Jersey, but due to the number of companies in this area, it has been decided to position the new account manager in the Boston area. The territory will include Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Rhode Island, and Connecticut.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Identify new target companies and recognize opportunities at these companies.
- Conduct meetings at existing and new accounts to promote Pharma Polymers products and services.
- Involve appropriate technical experts from Evonik, as needed, and manage project process (coordinate CDA, prepare proposal, develop contracts).
- Member of key account team(s) as determined by existing key accounts and account responsibilities and carry out activities as determined by team and key account manager.
- Active communications within pharma polymers U.S. and global teams.
- Participation in monthly regional business team meetings and quarterly sales meetings.
- Maintenance of CRM database including customer contact information, visit reports, and project opportunities.
- Preparation of monthly report.
- Budgeting of sales for products and services on ongoing basis.
- Manage ongoing product sales, including pricing, inventory, and forecasting.
- Negotiate supply, service, and quality agreements.
- Participation in project teams as needed
Candidate Qualifications and Experience:
- Relevant technical degree required, advanced degree preferred (Masters or Ph.D.)
- Minimum 5 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably in a technical position.
- Understanding of polymer science, drug delivery, and formulation development for oral and/or controlled release injectable products.
- Ability to sell products and services.
- Strong relationship building and networking skills.
- Ability to self motivate and maintain high level of organization.
- Possess information gathering skills to identify new accounts and obtain meetings with appropriate contacts at these accounts.
- Learn and understand various product lines and drug delivery technologies, and be able to detect a fit with customer requirements.
- Contract negotiation skills (confidentiality, supply, service, and quality agreements).
