Technical Support Engineer - Retail - North London - circa £48k -
My client is looking to hire a Technical Support Engineer to provide day to day, hands-on technical support of Windows based production and development systems running on HP/ IBM and other hardware platforms. You will work as part of the Service Delivery Function, delivering a quality service to organisation and its customers using a variety of hardware and software products.
Successful candidate will have:
- Windows 2003 Server Certified to MCSE level or equivalent
- Active Directory design, build and administration, Group policy
- ITIL Certified in Service Management (V2/V3) or at least ITIL aware
- DNS, TCIP, MPLS
- Software Deployment Tools (SMS)
- HP Proliant Hardware/IBM hardware configuration
- Installation, configuration, support and administration of Citrix, IIS 6.0 / 7.0
- Day to day support of VMware environments
- Experience of EVA SAN Infrastructure and ESX
- Sophos AV support and Admin
- Checkpoint Firewall administration
- System Imaging deployment
You will also have:
- In-depth experience of working with Windows 2003 / 2008 Server and other Microsoft products - such as Exchange 2003/2007, Clusters, WSUS, IIS, SQLServer.
- Experience of any of the following is desirable - Citrix, load balancing, web technologies, optimisation techniques, Monitoring software
Duties include:
- Resolve incidents/problems affecting the operation/availability of systems
- Produce RFC documents as part of the Change Control process
- Install, configure, maintain Windows 2003 / 2008 Server and associated products
- Manage and support MS Exchange 2003/2007
- Manage and support Windows / SQL Clusters
- Manage and support Physical Servers (HP/IBM/Compaq servers), disk arrays, tape libraries
- Analyse system performance indicators and recommend improvement actions
- Perform and review technical system recovery plans
- Assess, install and maintain third-party tools
- Review the problem management register - and identify and implement actions
- Support/Train Service Desks Analysts and Peers
- Maintain and create technical/process documentation to a set standard
- Infrastructure design and deployment
