Position Description
Technical Support
The Systems Administrator will perform some of the following day to day activities: UC4 management, Ticket dispatch, Call handling and Dispatch. This position will also learn and perform documented procedures for some of the following technologies: Windows Server, UNIX Servers, Linux Servers, Data Protection, Storage and related technologies or processes such as SOX, NERC/CIP, SCCM, SCOM, ELM, CCM, ITIM, and TSM
The shift is up to 12 hours long and can occur during the day or night hours. Shift coverage can also occur on reserved holidays. This team is a 24x7 real time operations team.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day operations and ensure safe, effective and timely response and resolution to operational incidents and planned maintenance work.
- Analyze existing or identify potential system problems. Provide first line trouble shooting of system hardware and software related problems in the mainframe, server and network environments as part of the Local Service Desk. Ensure timely documentation and escalation of data center or enterprise related problems.
- Dispatch work to Computer Operations staff
- Ensure ticket creates are clear and provide proper information as defined by COC documented processes.
- Monitor batch processing on all platforms via the UC4 job scheduler software. Handle all client requests and assure conformance to all in-force service level agreements. Monitor performance as well as negotiate special requests.
- Participate in ongoing process improvement and streamlining of procedures. Assist in the automation of processes, procedures and situations that traditionally require manual operator intervention.
- Perform documented procedures in one of more the following different platform technologies; Windows, Linux Red Hat and AIX.
Required Experience:
- 2 year experience in Computing Environment supporting servers of any of the following platforms (Windows, Linux, AIX)
- Proven ability to write and communicate clearly
- 1 year experience of BMC Remedy Action Request System usage in a server environment
Desired Experience
- 1 year experience in UC4 system administration
- AIX: 2 year experience in Computing Environment supporting servers of any of the following platforms
- Communication: Proven ability to write and communicate clearly
- Linux: 2 year experience in Computing Environment supporting servers
- Remedy Helpdesk: 1 year experience of BMC Remedy Action Request System usage in a server environment
- Windows NT Server: 2 year experience in Computing Environment supporting servers
