Melitta is an international manufacturer of commercial coffee equipment. At our Elgin facility we repair and rebuild our commercial automatic espresso machines used by national chain restaurants.
We are looking for someone to support the established goals of the Training Services Department by participating in, facilitating and developing training content for instructor-based technical trainings on various espresso machines in house and in field locations to provide maximum benefit for the technicians and third party vendors. This is a hands-on electro-mechanical service job, not a computer or classroom trainer position.
Our electronically controlled espresso machines are state of the art in the industry, they include: automatic coffee bean grinders, an electronically controlled coffee brewing module, steam and hot water boilers, and a system for automatically heating milk for latte type drinks.
- Conduct hands on classes for field service technicians, customer technicians and 3rd party service providers in machine installation, repair, preventative maintenance and troubleshooting
- Perform field service work and machine installations
- Conduct in-field training via ride-alongs with internal and external technicians to reinforce the formal classroom training provided, evaluate capabilities and provide instruction and coaching with regard to troubleshooting techniques, PM performance and machine operation.
- Provide support for new and existing field service technicians
- Instruct technicians in the setup and calibration of new espresso machines
- Provide telephone support to guide technicians in the troubleshooting and repair of electrical, hydraulic and electronic systems
- Evaluate finished product taste and appearance; Espresso, Latte, Cappuccino, etc.
- Provide In store training for customers and machine operators
- Write service bulletins and instructions for service procedures
- Travel is required 25%-50%
Skills:
· Must be able work as part of a team
· Strong communication and training skills both written and verbal
· Technical degree or previous electro-mechanical training
· Excellent troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude
· Skilled with the use of hand tools and test instruments such as multimeters
· Superior customer service skills
· Professional attitude and appearance
· Ability to work independently and organize one's own activities
· Experience with MS Office Applications, Presentation tools and proficient in Excel
· Experience in the development of technical documentation
· Valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record
· Strong customer focus in every aspect of the job
Education:
· 5-10 years electro-mechanical experience preferred
· Five years experience in developing and implementing comprehensive staff and/or client training programs and similar events
