Technical Writer
Responsibilities
- Work directly with our products to accurately and completely document software.
- Work closely with the product development, QA, product management, and customer support teams to create and maintain user guides, developer guides, installation guides, and online help.
- Research and plan documentation requirements for new products.
- Create conceptual diagrams to illustrate key points in the documents.
- Drive documents through the review process and produce final deliverables.
- Make recommendations on product usability.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience researching technical content by interviewing the development team and ability to seek other sources for information.
- Ability to distill highly detailed technical functionality into comprehensive description and task-oriented instructions. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent writing and editing skills; attention to detail and ability to self-edit.
- Excellent organization skills with proven ability to create documentation in short software development cycles and to work on several projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently, without direction or supervision.
- Awareness of trends and best practices in the information development field.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for, and interest in, computer technology and software.
- Strong ability to seek and implement customer feedback for continuous improvement and innovation of documentation.
- Excellent writing samples showing ability to write different types of documentation in a client-server environment and user guides for a developer audience.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; certificate in technical writing is a plus.
- Experience with a broad range of current software technology.
