Job Description:
All qualified candidates MUST have the following:
1. Requires Bachelors degree in Technical Communications, English, a related field, or equivalent work related experience.
2. Minimum of five years of experience as a Technical Writer, developing and project, managing print and online technical documentation.
3. Working knowledge of operating systems, word processing, and online authoring tools and technologies such as RoboHelp, HTML, and XML.
4. Strong ability to work in a team required.

Not required but would be a plus:
1. Related industry experience; Building Automation or Life Sciences Industry.
2. A membership or affiliation with a professional organization such as Society for Technical Communication.
3. Technical Writer with FDA Regulated industry requirements.

Assesses user needs and, writes, edits, and maintains technical documentation, including user manuals, online help, job aids, installation instructions, and technical instructions/bulletins. Functions as lead writer responsible for deliverables of more complex projects. Manages, with little supervision, the complete documentation cycle for multiple complex documentation projects. Organizes content into a logical flow and tailors language to target audience according to established standards. Edits documents produced by associate and technical writers. Helps develop style rules and train other writers on style issues. Gathers and assimilates information from a variety of sources. Researches content for new and revised documents by participating in user analysis, identifying and interviewing subject matter experts, working with product prototypes, and reading and interpreting design specifications. Manages documentation reviews and usability testing with minimal supervision. Designs and conducts test plans, surveys, and interview questions to measure document usability. Resolves and manages document change requests for multiple documents. Manages the process for publishing and archiving documents. Develops and maintains reports such as review and status reports. Determines target audience, appropriate medium, layout, and navigational paths. Creates documentation specifications, organizes topics, and develops prototypes. Manages print production process. Assists with the development and the implementation of new documentation standards. Manages, with minimal supervision, the complete document development cycle. Estimates time requirements, size and resource commitments. Contributes to project plans and specifications and evaluates the impact of project scope or engineering changes on documentation schedules. Creates and maintains FDA Validation Documentation standards (Protocols, SOPs, etc.). Provides Validation Project support, either direct labor support or mentor for a compliance project. Develops maintains Application Guides, specifications and cut sheets for Life Science group. Updates Life Science specifications. Manages content for SPECx tool. Manages content for Lab Services. Maintain Life Science Intranet Site. Develops provides technical writing (documentation publishing) of new documents for BAU National Operations. Develops provides technical writing (documentation publishing) of new documents for Life Science group. Maintains Life Science Providers Network SharePoint site. Participates in and conducts team meetings and peer reviews. Mentors lower-level writers. Participates in interviewing candidates for Technical Writer Associate and Technical Writer vacancies. Continues development with regard to current technical documentation research and technologies.
