Specific Job Description Using previous console, submode and operator manual experience, develop new or update existing technical documentation (OPP/QRGs)IAW customer approved Bibliographies and applicable Style Guides. Receives daily tasking from functional Team Leader. Obtains engineering source data (software and hardware) from iCASPER or CD/drives IAW bibliography. Reviews initial impact provided by review team and is tasked with finding all other impacts. Incorporate engineering material into authoring database, conforming to the style guide and compose pdfs. Support review process by incorporating all directed comments. Utilize tools and latest technology to create an automated system that takes full advantage of common data between the QRGs. Performance expectations will be tied to product quality as the customer requires submission of perfect TMs. Actively work towards becoming the COE Technical Documentation Expert. This entails extensive travel. Standard Job Description Compiles, writes and edits, using electronic media, a wide variety of technical material such as instructional leaflets, operational, installation, or intermediate/ depot-level technical manuals, (paper or interactive electronic technical manuals (IETMs)) related to products manufactured by the company and participates as required in preparation of reports and proposals of a technical nature. Analyzes preliminary production schedules and confers with appropriate supervision to determine needs and plans work to meet schedules. Confers with design and development engineers and others to obtain necessary information preparatory to making rough drafts of material. Prepares outlines, text and plans details of material by research and reviewing drawings, technical publications, miscellaneous engineering data, and customer?s specifications. Plans format of material in accordance with application and requirements and directs the preparation of sketches, drawings, photographs, or schematic diagrams to be included with text. Obtains necessary approvals of completed text and collaborates with illustrators/photographers to plan cover and page layouts, including illustrations and photographs. Initiates requests as required for type or electronic proofs and reproduction proofs including text and finished illustrative material. Verifies proofs and completed material prepared by vendors for accuracy, quality and general appearance. Participates as required in writing technical articles for engineering societies, management and other publications. Directs the efforts of other Technical Writers and Editors, reviews and edits their material and recommends appropriate alterations or corrections when necessary.
