Technician – Desktop Administration / Desktop Support recruitment

Position:

This position will support the desktop computing requirements of the company. The person that holds this position possess skills including administering personal computers, supporting commercial and proprietary software products, network connectivity, diagnostics and troubleshooting, etc.  Additionally, since this is a “customer-facing” position, this individual must possess excellent communications skills, be focused on customer service and committed to relationship building. Being able to prioritise queries and issues as well as respond in a clear and concise manner is crucial.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Maintain, analyse, troubleshoot and resolve Windows / Mobile based problems

• Install and configure workstations, printers, monitors and VOIP desk phones

• Desktop / Laptop builds, upgrades and replacing of components

• Provide daily desktop and peripheral support.

• Order equipment and software and oversee computer / hardware inventory management.

• Resolve LAN and Wireless LAN communications issues.

• Participate in departmental projects as required.

• Perform miscellaneous duties as required by IT management.

• Utilize a Service Desk ticketing system to document and track work efforts.

• Log, assign, track, investigate and resolve calls while closely liaising with staff keeping them informed on status.

• Ability to meet ticket closure targets as define by Service Level Agreements - ensuring that all requests from users are logged and right procedures are followed

• Provide video-conferencing support as needed.

• Provide support for Mobile devices, including configuration and corporate device activations

• Experience with Cisco VOIP phone systems. Setting up and maintenance of desk / soft phones

• Work independently on the above with direction from both local based and corporate senior technology staff (within the standards and guidelines of technology processes)

• Effectively interface with other departments, personnel, and business contacts.

• Openness to work out of office hours or weekends in order to complete specific projects or tasks resulting in minimal disruption and risk during office hours

• Knowledge of participating in rollout of new software and hardware to ensure consistency in company’s technical standards

• Working and maintaining relationships with a geographically spread IT team.

* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stoop, reach, stand, walk, lift, pull, push, grasp and use repetitive motions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. / 22 kgs of materials.

Qualifications:

• A+ Certification

• 2 years’ experience with Window XP and 7 Operating Systems

• 2 years’ experience with Microsoft Office 2010, Adobe, Exchange Console

• 2 years’ experience in working within a Desktop Support environment.

• Must have proven and demonstrable PC, Printers, cabling, patching and other IT hardware troubleshooting skills

• Some experience in administrating user accounts in Active Directory

• Experience in using / administrating PBX and Voicemail systems

• Experience in using a “ticketing” system to manage workload.

• Excellent organizational skills.

• Excellent problem solving skills

• Excellent customer service skills, being proactive, friendly and approachable.

• Ability to work in a fast paced environment

• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

• Ability to self-motivate and manage time effectively.

• Ability to prioritise workload and follow up with Team and Staff to ensure closure.

• Possess superior oral and written communication skills

• Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST)

• Degree in Computer Science or Engineering.

• Financial services experience is preferred

• Software distribution tools (Imaging, Ghosting) – Ideally Microsoft SCCM

• Polycom / Tandberg Video Conferencing set up and issue resolution experience

• Experience working on Blackberry Enterprise Server and/or Good Server
