Job Description Transmission and Distribution (TD) - Document Control Technician (Technical) The Energy business line addresses the complete spectrum of energy challenges, including power generation, transmission and distribution, clean and renewable energy, energy efficiency and carbon management, hydropower and dams, thermal, geothermal, solar, and wind. Our clients are both network owners, such as transmission and distribution utilities, and network users, such as generators, electricity consumers and rail network operators. Our TD project work includes the following: - Transmission and distribution analysis and network planning - Power generation systems analysis - Substation and transmission line design - Power system protection - Communications - SCADA, metering and energy management systems - Load dispatch centers - High voltage underground cables - Transmission and substation siting and land planning - Sub-soil investigation and earthing systems - System efficiency and loss reduction programs We are currently seeking candidates in the Reading PA area for a Document Control Technician for a TD project design office, with appropriate academic credentials and a minimum of four (4) years relevant experience, with at least two (2) of these years being spent in a document control technician role for a major company performing TD design work. In this capacity, the Document Control Technician will maintain electronic and paper files for design and project work being executed within the office comprised of designers and engineers. Additional administrative support duties will be assigned to ensure the functions of the project design office can be accomplished in the most efficient and expedient manner. Reporting to the Design Manager, the Document Control Technician will monitor document compliance and conformance with quality, performance, safety, and code requirements. Activities may include assisting with engineering calculations, setting up and operating equipment, and maintaining project documentation. General understanding of procedures and company policies is required to achieve established results and deadlines. Performs routine duties with a great deal of autonomy, and exhibits sound independent judgment in executing assigned tasks. Experience and demonstrated knowledge in successfully performing these functions over several years is necessary. Some knowledge of major electrical utility industry design principles and practices is desired. The position requires solid written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Working familiarity with basic computer programs, such as MS Outlook, Word, and Excel is necessary.
