Technician III, Equipment Maintenance

POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The Equipment Maintenance Technician III repairs and installs complex PLC controlled mechanical and electrical equipment including automated machines, controls, panels, relays, circuit breakers and communication systems. Troubleshoots and diagnoses on-site electrical and mechanical equipment for functional and structural repairs, including conveyor systems, material handling systems, air compressors and pneumatics.

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Repairs and maintains physical structures using hand and power tools.
2. Repairs and installs electrical systems and fixtures with minimum supervision.
3. Troubleshoots PLC’s and PLC controlled conveyors and equipment.
4. Measures, cuts, bonds, threads, assembles and install electrical conduit.
5. Moves, installs and adjusts fixtures, motors and other electrical/mechanical equipment.
6. Installs power, light, electronic and control circuits.
7. Diagnoses mechanical/electrical problems, replaces or repairs parts, detects and replaces defective control modules.
8. Installs and repairs environmental-control systems, utilizing knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting and structural layout.
9. Tests electrical equipment for safety.
10. Inspects, adjusts and repairs all building systems as required.
11. Monitors and inspects facility construction, conveyor installation and all trade/contractor work.
12. Maintains a clean, organized and safe internal and external work environment.
13. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment.
14. Drive company vehicle to purchase and retrieve maintenance and cleaning supplies and materials. Also, transport company inventory and supplies from building to building.
15. Provide technical assistance to lower level maintenance technicians.
16. Maintain stock storage areas and liaison with purchasing as necessary.
17. Respond to emergency alarm systems.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Requires completion of formal apprenticeship or associates degree.
2. 5-8 years of maintenance experience in similar environment.
3. Thorough knowledge of equipment and understanding of mechanical and electrical systems with formal training or education.
4. 5-8 years of maintenance experience with mechanical and electrical control functions.
5. Good communication and customer service skills.
6. Ability to prioritize with good time management, planning, expediting and proactive skills.
7. Self-motivated and ability to work independently.
8. Flexibility to work any shift as business needs require.
9. Ability to comprehend instructions and perform a variety of maintenance tasks.
