Recording and Storage Equipment: Operates complex recording and storage equipment such as the semi-automatic camera, cathode ray microfilmer, optical character reader, and video file. Performs quality control tasks associated with the storage media such as resolution and density of film, resolution of video images, and percent recognition of characters. B. Documentation Analysis: Orders, receives, screens, and subjects index documents determined as pertinent to an information storage center. Formulates and abstracts data from technical documents into a format suitable for inclusion in the files. Coordinates the insertion of new or updated data into the storage system. C. Information Search: Performs searches of data in response to inquiries from the data file users. Reviews stored data for applicability in answering questions. Refers inquiries unanswerable from the stored data to other sources. Job Requirements Requires a high school education, with some college highly desirable, plus approximately four (4) years experience in data storage and retrieval operations. FUNCTION: Performs specialized duties in the operation of data storage and retrieval systems. CONTROLS: A. Works under the guidance and direction of an Engineer, Engineering Specialist, or other higher level employee. Must perform the prescribed work from general instructions. B. Specialized in one or more areas of data storage and retrieval operations, recording and storage equipment, documentation analysis, or information search.
