Responsibilities

* Ensure safe work procedures are followed and perform safety and equipment maintenance duties. Research, develop and present a safety topic at the bi-monthly Safety Meeting. Replace gas cylinders as required.

* Determine combustible levels in the field (i.e., bar hole, sewer manhole, etc.) using a Combustible Gas Detector and take a field sample of an unidentified gas mixture. Analyze, calculate and report on the unidentified gas mixture using a Gas Chromatograph.

* Coordinate, perform and report on Quality Assurance Testing of gas distribution products and tools such as plastic pipe, regulators and heater faces to Company and Industry Standards. Assist in testing new and existing gas related products, gas fitting components and tools under the supervision of a Technical Expert or EMEC Manager. Record test data and report results.

* Analyze chemical samples using EMEC General Operating Procedures and record test results. Discuss results with a Technical Expert for interpretation and report on analysis.

* Analyze natural gas samples from TCPL and Production Facilities using a Gas Chromatograph and prepare a report.

* File reports and maintain the EMEC Filing System

* Assist in the evaluations of Engineering programs and requests under the supervision of a Technical Expert or EMEC Manager.

Qualifications

* Secondary school education

* Successful completion of Chemistry, Physics and Math courses at College or University levels.

* Proven Mechanical Aptitude.

* Capable of lifting up to a maximum of 40 lbs several times daily

* Capable of working in all outdoor weather conditions as required

* Capable of working in a cold freezer environment (down to -40°C) for short periods of time (approx. 5 minutes) as required

* Capable of performing EMEC functions in a safe manner

* Capable of multitasking and flexible when required to work outside normal working hours

* *G* License and successful completion of Company Drivers Test

* Effective interpersonal and communication skills

* Effective technical writing skills (must be able to provide actual samples of technical reports for review)

* Ability to work independently and in a team environment

* Ability to understand and interpret Company and Industry standards, policies and regulations

* Ability to work with computer programs such as Word, Excel, Lotus Notes, PowerPoint

* Working knowledge using the following EMEC tools and equipment: band saw, drill press, micrometers, calipers, ultrasonic gauge, analytical balance, pipe adjustable wrenches, plastic fusion tools for joining gas pipe, Instron Tensile apparatus, ESCR SPETP apparatus, melt indexer, density apparatus, ring plug gauges, Pi tapes, sound level meters and Optical Comparator

Preferred Knowledge:

* Engineering Certificate or Engineering Diploma at College Level
