Technology Analyst/Vendor Manager (Development) recruitment
It has three strategic objectives: to provide professional treasury services to the Prudential Group; to operate a first-class wholesale and capital markets interface; and to realise profitable opportunities within a tightly controlled risk framework. PruCap generates revenue by providing bridging finance, managing investments and operating securities lending, repo, cash management and derivatives business for the Prudential Group and its clients.
PruCap works closely with other business units across the Group and the Group's banking relationships to exploit opportunities and increase value creation for Prudential as a whole.
PruCap employs 33 people, mostly in London with three people in Singapore. The business is organised into four business lines: Group Treasury, Principal Finance, Wholesale Markets and Derivative Management. Back office, IT and other support functions, including risk analytics and monitoring, are outsourced to internal and external providers.
Opportunity
PruCap is looking to recruit a technology manager or analyst to work in the Business Management Team. The department, which is based in London, has responsibility for supporting all aspects of PruCap's wholesale and capital markets business including, with respect to this role, ensuring the continuing operation of the dealing systems and other technology architecture, service supplier management, the facilitation of new business ideas, improvement of existing business practice and the production of management information. The role will include:
*Management of technology supply to a time pressured and increasingly international business.
*Direct support role in a front office environment providing an interface between dealing / investment desks and technology suppliers.
*Working directly with the dealing desk and providing development of new MS Office based applications.
*Working with multi-disciplined teams on business change.
Accountabilities:
*Ensure appropriate day to day support of the business
*Continuity of PruCap's critical systems.
*Comprehensive understanding of PruCap's systems and the providers that maintain them
Key responsibilities
*Manage the day to day relationships between the various PruCap clients and internal / third party technology suppliers.
*Providing quick and effective front line support to the dealing desks where necessary.
*Issue / problem management including defining actions for other areas in Information System and Technical Services teams.
*Assist the dealing desks in the development and maintenance of small applications and desk tools.
*Represent PruCap on technology projects.
*Coordinate the technical aspects of disaster recovery and business continuity.
*Provide input to PruCap's technical strategy.
What we are looking for
*Experience of developing desktop tools such as MS Excel VBA macros. Experience in intranet applications using tools such as Classic ASP, C#, ASP.Net and SQL Server preferred.
*Good understanding of technology and business change in large financial or trading organisations.
*Must have strong analysis / investigation skills and be able to find creative sustainable solutions to system issues and user problems.
*Experienced in issue / problem management - on both technical and user / process basis.
*Ability to work reliably without close supervision and used to working in an environment with clearly defined procedures and controls.
*Good interpersonal skills are key, the candidate must be able to work well with other members of PruCap and suppliers. Communicate clearly and concisely and deal diplomatically with users.
*Must have strong numeric skills.
*Must have a high level of responsibility and an eye for quality.
