The Project Manager for HR BPO technology is responsible for the overall quality and timeliness of the delivery of one or more medium to large development or implementaton projects or ongoing support for a system or a piece of a system. Although he or she may be involved in the requirements or development process itself, he or she focuses primarily on two things: the delivery of a project/product/tools and maintaining the day-to-day interactions of the development/implementations teams and interactions with the business sponsor. Primary responsibilities are grouped into the following categories:Technical Project Management. The Project Manager is responsible for ensuring that all the portions of the project are delivered in a timely manner, with high quality and scope that meets the business need. He or she is expected to follow the current Hewitt Technology Process methodology, using the prescribed artifacts/templates for each phase of the project: Initiating, Planning, Requirements, Design, Development/Build, Test, Deployment, and Post Implementation Maintenance/Support. The Project Manager also holds other team members accountable for following standards and using HTP, as appropriate.
- The Technology Project Manager brings together team members and others impacted to facilitate building of common understanding around process, task dependencies, and estimates, scope, and risk. He or she appropriately probes and challenges team members' assumptions in order to create a robust project plan. The Project Manager also understands and manages resource availability and competency levels. He or she works with leadership to ensure the project has the appropriate staffing.
- During the course of the project, the Technology Project Manager maintains the integrity of the project plan as dependencies, scope, estimates, and/or risk factors change. He or she works with the Business Analyst, Business Sponsor, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and team leadership to make appropriate business decisions around adjusting scope, resources, or deadlines. The Project Manager identifies, understands, and clears project hurdles and finds ways to mitigate any new risks. He or she also is responsible for effective and timely communication with team leadership and Business Sponsors regarding project progress, hurdles, risks, scope changes, and successes.
Team Building. The Technology Project Manager facilitates building of relationships between team members and with other affected parties. He or she identifies and addresses communication issues, mismatched expectations, and other factors that can degrade team relationships. System Design Support. The Technology Project Manager works closely with the Business Analyst to understand the requirements and define the process flow. He or she must understand the impact the project will have on current tools, processes or previously installed components and ensure adequate resources are allocated. He or she should also serve as resource to obtain or provide answers to any technical questions the Business Analyst or Sponsor has as the project progresses through development.
Technical Knowledge Required
- 7+ years of experience in managing enterprise application delivery projects
- Advanced knowledge of SAP Software Implementation Processes
- Advanced knowledge of Project Management tools/techniques
- Strong SAP application functional knowledge, preferably HCM - specifically cross-team and cross module impact areas
- Familiarity with full range of development tools (requirements through testing)
- Demonstrated track record of on time project delivery and meeting quality expectations
- Excellent problem solving and communications skills with track record for meeting timelines and exceeding expectations
- Bachelors/Masters Degree in Engineering/Computer Applications or MIS related degree
