Telecommunications Job ID: HITS08111088 Telecommunications - McLean, VA - HITS08111088 Description: Job Title: Telecommunications Job Code: HITS08111088 Job Description: * Responsible for installation, test and maintenance (including tier 2 level repair) of voice, video and data networks * Ability to install copper and fiber cabling with minimal/no supervision; ability to follow installation documentation (CAD drawings, blueprints, facility layouts, etc) * Provide customer user training on new installations (voice, video and data equipment) * Provides On-site technical support * Provides assistance to project management, engineering and to communications designers * This position may require shift work and occasional overtime Qualifications: * AS degree (or HS with the equivalent work experience) * Requires 2-8 years of experience with a good working knowledge of communications (voice, video, data) infrastructure and networks, and the installation of associated communications cabling and equipment * Knowledge of both horizontal and vertical (riser) cabling systems and associated infrastructure * Experience with the installation of Cat 5/6 cable and/or fiber cable installation. Ability to splice copper and fiber cable. * Ability to install network equipments in racks, and cable the racks per installation guidance * Knowledge and skilled in the use of common test equipment used during the installation process * Good customer relations/service skills for routine interactions with end-customers Preferred Additional Skills: * Technical certification in a network discipline * Knowledge of the Remedy system to update work orders and trouble tickets This position requires the candidate to already possess an active In-Scope SSBI clearance granted at the TS/SCI level with poly and to maintain the clearance.
