Position Summary:

Working from our Hagerstown, MD facility, the successful candidate will performs routine engineering activities related to facility operations and maintenance for the Hagerstown Teleport. Will be responsible for routine project implementations or maintenance actions. Will ensure that equipment, procedures and the performance of the Teleport meets the high standards of service for our customers and users. Will support improvement processes across all areas. Additional responsibilities will include -

1. Ensuring correct implementation and performance of routine hardware and software modifications on teleport equipment as required.
2. Identifying more straightforward equipment or system deficiencies and may participate in the review of the station's design capabilities and capacities of the communications equipment and infrastructure systems to meet new demands and changes to operational conditions.
3. Providing routine engineering services for service activation, maintenance, repair and operation of station equipment to ensure its maximum availability for operational requirements.
4. Performing routine aspects of activation and delivery of services to Intelsat customers as per established service level agreements.
5. Reporting any deviations to service availability caused by safety, security, equipment degradation, ground system failure, potential loss of facility system support, or other local conditions resulting in potential loss of revenues or increased risk to business operations.

Minimum Requirements:

** THIS POSITION REQUIRES ITAR ACCESS - Applicants must be U.S. Citizen or U.S. permanent resident.**

- Bachelors degree or a minimum of 3 years of related work experience required.
- Strong knowledge of earth station systems with demonstrated abilities to maintain antenna systems and controls, RF system equipment such as converters, fiber optic, LNA/LNB, high power amplifiers and possesses good understanding of facility plant subsystems including high power switch gear, UPS’s and power distribution units.
- Knowledge of different layer data communication protocol, such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, HDLC, FR, etc. and associated equipment such as routers, switches, DAX’s, etc.
- Knowledge of video systems and protocols.
- Demonstrated abilities with the use of spectrum analyzers, swept frequency synthesizers, network analyzers microwave link analyzers, Bit Error Testers and related industry standard test equipment that supports Teleport Operations.
- Ability to teach and otherwise transfer knowledge to technicians and other Teleport personnel.
- Fluency in English, spoken and written, is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Demonstrated working knowledge of radio frequency equipment and systems.
