Temporary Gas Marketing Accountant Job in Calgary, Alberta Canada
Our downtown Oil Gas client has an immediate opening for a 6-month contract opportunity for a Gas Marketing Accountant. The successful candidate reports to the Manager of Natural Gas Marketing and will benefit from the range of responsibilities that encompass all accounting matters pertaining to gas marketing transactions. This role will be assisting with implementation of a critical SAP project coinciding with year-end and first quarter reporting requirements.
Responsibilities Include:
- Assisting the Natural Gas Marketing team with testing of new SAP application
- Coordinates with appropriate personnel to resolve problems as necessary
- Accurate and timely settlement (invoicing) for natural gas transactions
- Determination of monthly gas pool prices
- Accounting and reconciliation of general ledger accounts
- Completion and submission of regulatory reports in a timely and accurate manner
- Gas pipeline balancing and reconciliation of discrepancies with pipelines and partners
- Interaction with trading partners as well as internal departments on various issues
- Work with, and provide support to Gas Group, including any assigned projects
Qualifications Include:
- Minimum of 5 years Accounting experience in an Oil Gas producing company
- Production Accounting and Gas Marketing experience an asset
- Flexibility with work hours and ability to work overtime as required
- Knowledge and experience with SAP preferred
- Degree majoring in accounting and/or are currently enrolled in a professional program such as CGA or CMA.
- Solid communication skills with strengths in teamwork, problem solving and achieving results
- Initiative, analytical skills and strong attention to detail are also important attributes
- The successful candidate will be an independent team member capable of working in a fast-paced timeline driven environment
