ALSTOM GRID UK Ltd - Power Electronics HVDC and FACTS,Staffordis an international leader in Power Electronics and Control Technology, specialising in the engineering of High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) Transmission Systems, Static VAR Compensators (SVC) and other FACTS Systems for power utilities worldwide.
The Role
Secure HVDC orders.
Deliver first-class tenders to worldwide HVDC customers.
Meet target price and performance provided.
Develop and own tender process.
Develop and improve tender submission documents.
- Review enquiry documents to establish a bid strategy to maximise the probability of success.
- Supervise the preparation of tenders and make sure that the tendering team has a full understanding of the bid conditions and of the company procedures, and ensure that the tenders are submitted on time.
- Supervise price build up to establish a realistic cost estimate with adequate provision for project risks and incorporation of current costing rates and, in accordance with the Tendering Solutions Director and the Business Managers, agree prices to be quoted in the form required by the Customer.
- Continually review the bid management processes, update and revise as necessary, to ensure the process meets the client and AREVA's requirements.
- Where applicable negotiate, or delegate authority to negotiate with customers and suppliers to agree terms acceptable to the customer and Company.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers in conjunction with the Procurement and Sourcing Department, communicating requirements to and negotiate with internal service suppliers to adequately resource tenders.
- Produce Management reports in a timely manner as required.
- Identify recruitment requirements to the Tendering Solutions Director and assist with the recruitment process
- Take active responsibility for direct reporting staff (eg with regard to individual reviews, timesheets, discipline, expenses, holidays, time keeping, salary, training)
The Person
The successful candidate will have a degree in Electrical Engineering or related subject with a commercial/legal/sales background. You will have extensive experience in a tendering or project environment and an understanding of Commercial terms Conditions used in target markets. You will be a competent user of Microsoft Office, with good numeracy and organization skills. You will be fluent in English with excellent communication and people management skills.
You will be educated to ONC/HNC Level or equivalent in Electrical Engineering. Sales experience and a good commercial background are desirable. Good Project Management experience would also be advantageous. You will have knowledge of the Transmission Distribution Business. Knowledge of the Electrical Distribution Systems and procedures would also be of benefit. Sound High/Low voltage switchgear and transformer background would be desirable. A strong knowledge of the Electrical Industry, EPC and customer base in this segment is essential. Extensive knowledge of Commercial processes is also essential. You will also be able to interpret balance sheets.
