Role Summary/Purpose
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to bring into our data management team. If you are interested in becoming an expert in relational modeling for large data warehouse applications in a manufacturing environment then this is the position for you. As a data modeler, you will be responsible for developing conceptual and logical relational data models (LDM) for various business subject such as manufacturing, testing, costing accounting, contracts management and many others.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop 3NF logical data models in Aviation's Enterprise Data Warehouse environment
  • Work with business partners to develop business requirements documents
  • Develop a broad understanding of data in the GE Aviation environment
  • Work with business experts to translate business requirements into LDMs, and work closely with the PDM and ETL teams
  • Develop models with CA ERwin 7+
  • Ensure the models meet business requirements as well as all architectural standards such as appropriate documentation, metadata, data dictionaries, volumetrics, etc.
  • Utilize the Teredata MLDM as a solution template for future LDM development
  • Develop peer relationships across IM areas (infrastructure, operations, etc) to support effective implementations
  • Perform assigned tasks and project assignments in order to meet goals and objectives
  • Assist others in the accomplishment of work assignments through technical leadership
  • Serve as technical expert on assigned area’s applications, including code, interfaces, and data flows
  • Provide technical and/or project leadership function for assigned engineering analysis and computing projects
  • Responsible for the maintenance of in-place programs; coordinates with project teams and business analysts to translate detailed specifications into new or enhanced application solutions
  • Demonstrate command of multiple programming languages, basic systems analysis techniques, testing, debugging, documentation standards, file design, storage, and interfacing
  • Perform assigned tasks and project assignments in order to meet goals and objectives
  • Provide technical expertise and counsel to management, other organizations, and special projects personnel
  • Direct the preparation of and approve appropriate reports and communicate status and results
  • Make technical decisions by applying fundamental engineering principles and specialized knowledge or skills to assigned tasks
  • Establish the priority of work and assignment of personnel to meet objectives
  • Estimate costs and schedules, recommend resource required and solutions to problems, which arise during the course of a project
  • Serve as a primary interface with internal and external contributing organization relative to technical requirements, directions and problem resolution
  • Collaborate with management in developing technical directions, setting objectives, and setting realistic and challenging goals
  • Implement work activities to meet these plans, monitor progress, and report status
  • Provide timely leadership and direction to supporting organizations
  • Assist in the modification or establishment of operating practices

    Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology (IT), Computer Science or Engineering (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of experience in the application of information systems / IT experience)
