Thin Client Services Product Engineers Level 4 Job in Houston 77079, Texas US
Looking for an individual with good interpersonal skills and expert technical skills in area of Thin Client and Web Services, designing and engineering solutions using a multitude of technologies including, but not limited to Windows Server operating systems, Microsoft Terminal Server, Microsoft Internet Information Server, Microsoft .NET, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server, Citrix Presentation Server and XenApp, Oracle WebLogic, and load balancing solutions for applications focused on trading and scheduling in a high availability environment.
Interact with other architect, design, and development teams to ensure operational standards and guidelines are considered and adhered to during the early phases of a project.
Provide recommendations on application architecture design, choice of technology, and implementation plan for new applications or changes to existing applications.
Perform Operational Assurance Testing (OAT) on all applications where applicable.
Create, update, and manage documentation related to all aspects of architecture, design, and development where applicable.
Create repeatable processes or requirements for operational Business As Usual (BAU) support activities for BAU operational support staff. Examples may include migration processes or requirements, methods used to monitor a particular application component, etc.
Design, architect, and engineer various shared services platforms for consumption by IST North America Gas Power (NAGP) applications, and is responsible for the initial and ongoing architecture of the shared services.
Create and maintain standards and guidelines for all technologies as they related to operational support.
Develop and maintain tools for improving business processes and information management.
Provide reports to the management staff related to capacity planning activities.
Develop and support design aspects of service lines for IST Shared Services.
Provide formally documented recommendations to application architecture teams and management staff for proposed solutions for new or existing applications, processes, or shared services.
Document designed solutions, technology maps, implementation plans, monitoring solutions, and recommended operational support procedures for application infrastructure that is supported by BAU support staff.
In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS).
In-depth knowledge of Microsoft .NET frameworks and Microsoft Messaging Queuing (MSMQ)
In-depth knowledge of Citrix Presentation Server and Citrix XenApp.
Working knowledge of at least one scripting language such as VBscript, VB.NET, or C#.
Working knowledge of Windows operating systems, specifically Windows 2003 and Windows 2008.
Good knowledge of Solaris operating systems, specifically Solaris 9 and 10.
Experience with large-scale enterprise wide environments containing multiple farms with many servers.
Experience with Citrix web interface configuration.
Working knowledge of network infrastructure, and network hardware, specifically how traffic traverses the network using routers, firewalls, etc.
Working knowledge of clustering, load-balancing, and content switching.
Working knowledge of application and desktop publishing through ICA and RDP.
Experience with installing, configuring, and troubleshooting a wide range of proprietary third party written applications.
Essential 7 - 10 years of industry experience with 5+ years of Microsoft IIS, .NET, Weblogic, and/or Citrix experience.
Preferred Microsoft, Citrix, or WebLogic certifications a plus but not required
