Our client is an instantly recognisable Tier 1 bank with a global reach. The bank offers a full range of financial products to its clients across the banking sphere. The business has offices worldwide including European headquarters in London. The bank is seeking to increase it's investment banking business with an improving transactional environment. Therefore we are working with a few teams to source talented individuals to help with that growth.
The TMT team is one such area and perhaps one of the strongest performing teams in the bank. The group itself is looking to hire in Telecoms and Media given an increasing upsurge in deal execution and origination of opportunities in the wider market at the moment. Much of the renewed work comes on the back of strong performance in this sector in the US which is filtering in to the EMEA region.
Role Background:
The team seeks an Associate banker with a good interest inTelco and Media, either with a pure relevant sector background or someone with a more specific TM or T background who has a demonstrable interest in being more generalist who can work on Telco and Media deals in the business. Ideally an Associate 1 or 2 would be fine at this stage.
The role of the successful candidate will be the following:
- A deal pivot between the senior members of the team and the juniors during transactions
- A person who will liaise regularly with external clients and will often be the 'face' of the team during an execution.
- Given the narrow structure of the team, this individual will also have head room above them to develop and start to undertake relationships building and origination activity sooner perhaps than a well stocked team.
- You will be responsible for leading a team of junior bankers during the modelling, pitching and execution stages. You will yourself need strong analytical skills along with a sound knowledge of DCF and LBO modelling.
- The role is also one for helping and developing those below you while also receiving mentoring and development from those above you.
Requirements:
- A track record in the MA with a leading investment banking team. You will have had at least three years of experience. A track record of working on closed deals would also be very beneficial for the role.
- An evident interest in the TMT Sector
-A sound background of education is vital, a well regarded degree with a 2:1 level (or equivalent) of achievement is required.
- A strong technical skill set developed on other transactions you have worked on a is a fundamental requirement of the role.
- You should be prepared to travel within the EMEA region in order to work on transactions
- The hours within the team are typical of a tier 1 banking team however the financial rewards are high given compensation levels with this client versus others in the market
