TMT Associate: ECM & Corporate Broking Advisory – 3-6 yrs exp required (M&A, ECM or Equity Research related) recruitment

Completely independent and with an increasing number of high profile ‘retained’ clients, the business is looking to bring on board some additional resource.  The specific team hiring is TMT.  However, it is not essential that you possess a TMT background.  We are looking for someone with exceptional bottom-up research skills, perhaps having developed these in MA advisory, Equity Research, or indeed Corporate Broking.  This is a pure advisory role and our client does not have a distribution platform.  The firm’s credentials are exceptional, as is the reputation of the hiring Partner.  You will need to demonstrate a strong interest in technology, media and telecoms.

There is huge demand for specialist, independent advice in this market currently and our client has been established here for several years placing it in a very strong position.  They are looking to build upon the strong relationships already in place with several UK listed TMT corporates, fund managers, and various corporate broking teams across both the bulge bracket and mid-cap spaces.

A strong cultural fit is essential given the small team you will be working in.  You will need to gain the buy-in of every team member as well as several others from the wider business. You will need to demonstrate a high level of integrity given the sensitivities surrounding the nature of the work.  You will need to show a proactive approach and ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and limited supervision.  You will need to be able to self-motivate.  The ideal candidate will also have a very strong interest in the stock market and may even hold their own portfolio of stocks and shares.  You can learn the sector, but you need to understand public companies and what affects the valuation of their share prices.

Suitable candidates will likely have between 3-6 yrs experience in a corporate finance role, either in MA, Equity Research, ECM or Corporate Broking.  Someone in MA may for instance be looking for a better work-life balance and perhaps a more market-facing role.  You must have a minimum 2:1 degree from a leading academic institution and have excellent spoken and written English.  You will also have first rate interpersonal and communication skills.

If this is of interest and you believe you fit the criteria set out above, please forward a CV (Word format only) and brief covering email to nick.goff@one-search.co.uk.
