Too Big to Fail Programme – Operations Project Manager recruitment

Financial reform legislation requires the introduction of recovery and resolution plans for systemically important financial institutions in order to reduce the likelihood of failure and to minimize the impact if they do. The “Too Big to Fail” (TBTF) project has been initiated to implement UBS’s response to regulatory requirements and deliver recovery and resolution plans for the Investment Bank’s UK legal entities by specified deadlines.

This role sits within a global Regulatory Reform function, in IB Operations, and is focused on TBTF. The TBTF team’s objectives are to analyse the regulatory requirements relevant to Operations and to define the approach and plans outlining the actions necessary for delivery of recovery and resolution plans. Lastly, the team will be responsible for managing the delivery of the changes necessary to comply with the regulations

Given the tight regulatory delivery deadlines and the broad reaching nature of the TBTF regulation, the role offers a challenging and interesting opportunity to deliver a project of global significance, particularly when the majority of the global Investment Bank’s business is booked in UK legal entities.

You role will require managing the TBTF Project in EMEA, working with cross product teams in Operations, Finance, Business, Legal Compliance, etc . Key areas of focus for this role will include:

• Leading projects related to TBTF project in EMEA
• Leading the work to understand the emerging regulations and their impact on Operations
• Defining and agreeing with above stakeholders the co-ordinated UBS response to these regulations
• Implementing any changes necessary to Operations teams, processes, legal structures to meet the final regulations
• Agreeing the project approach, resourcing, organisation and schedule
• Developing, implementing and maintaining the project management plan, including risk and issue management, milestones and deliverables
• Measuring and monitoring progress to ensure that the project is delivered on time, within budget and meets the business requirements
• Proactively escalating risks and issues and their mitigating actions as they arise
• Leading and facilitating project meetings and workshops
• Resolving ad hoc issues on a timely basis.

You will have -

 Demonstrable project management or project/programme management office experience gained within an Investment Bank environment (other Financial Services sectors may be considered)
• A proactive approach, working independently to tight deadlines with minimal supervision
• An inclusive ‘front to back’ approach, focus of thinking not restricted to own immediate functional area
• A strong verbal and written communicator who tailors communication to a broad range of audiences and levels within the organisation with confidence
• A strong team player and relationship builder, comfortable in working with a global and diverse team/stakeholders across different locations and looking to work in a cross-product environment
• Able to anticipate potential problems, ‘think on feet’ to resolve and/or escalate appropriately
• Able to influence others over which you have no direct management authority at different levels in the organisation
• Able to work prioritise effectively in a rapidly changing environment
• Competent using MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
