Tool and Die Maker/Production Lead Job in East Lyme 06333, Connecticut Us
Local company is seeking a full-time Tool and Die Maker/Production Lead to provide leadership, analyze specifications, lay out metal stock, set up and operate machine tools, and fit and assemble parts to make and repair dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
* Setting up and operating drill presses to drill and tap holes in parts for assembly
* Smoothing and polishing flat and contoured surfaces of parts or tools, using scrapers, abrasive stones, files, emery cloths, or power grinders
* Studying blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies
* Verifying dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators
* Visualizing and computing dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of assemblies, based on specifications
* Casting plastic tools or parts, or tungsten-carbide cutting tips, using pre-made molds
* Designing jigs, fixtures, and templates for use as work aids in the fabrication of parts or products
* Confirming performance of die by installing die; inspecting operation of die; making adjustments; comparing finished product to specifications
* Resolving assembly problems by altering assembly to meet specifications; notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources
* Ensuring safe operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs
* Maintaining supplies inventory by checking supplies to determine amount available; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies
* Providing leadership to staff and maintaining continuity among work team by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
* Maintaining a clean, orderly and safe work environment at all times
