Tool & Fixture Designer Job in East Aurora, New York US

Duties/Responsibilities:

Under general direction of Engineering Manager, incumbent will be accountable for the design (layout, detailing and dimensional checking) of tooling, jigs, fixtures, gauges and test equipment for the most efficient production and test of Moog products. Maintains contact with Tool Room, Cutter Grind, outside vendors and operating departments regarding the ability to manufacture and the use of items designed. It is expected that in performing the role, incumbent will recommend and implement improvements of design and manufacturing techniques.

Education/Experience:

An Associate's degree in a technical or related discipline (or equivalent experience), tool and die making or machine shop experience and at least five years tool design experience.

Skills/Knowledge:

Must have a working knowledge of precision machine shop practices, cutting tools, jig and fixture construction, gauging practices and assembly and test practice, as well as outstanding communication and organizational skills. Unigraphics and CADRA experience preferred; a knowledge of pneumatics or hydraulics is desirable.

Other:
The secondary area of responsibility involves the preparation of detailed manufacturing instructions and N/C programs to produce machined parts and sub-assemblies to meet engineering drawings and specifications. This individual will determine the manufacturing procedures and operation sequencing and establish tooling and gauging and machine requirements to fabricate parts. The incumbent must be willing to learn all areas of manufacturing. This position requires the incumbent to be accountable for meeting the demands of deadlines and costs associated with manufacturing. Incumbent must be able to multi-task as well as work extended hours when required. Occasional travel required, including the possibility of international travel to support supply chain efforts.
