TOOL GRINDER
SUMMARY
Receives, stores, and issues hand tools, machine tools, dies, materials, and equipment. Sets up and operates grinding machines such as, drill, tool and cutter grinders, to sharpen cutting tools by performing the following duties under minimal supervision.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, but not limited to:
Issues tools and equipment to workers and maintains records of tools and equipment issued and returned.
Locates lost or misplaced tools and equipment.
Prepares periodic inventory or maintains perpetual inventory of tools and equipment.
Receives, unpacks, and stores incoming tools and equipment, and requisitions stock to replenish inventory.
Inspects and measures tools and equipment for defects and wear and reports damage or wear to supervisors.
Delivers tools or equipment to workers.
Marks and identifies tools and equipment.
Sharpens and reconditions tools such as drills, taps, form tools, and form drills.
Uses tool specifications and blueprints as provided to sharpen tools.
Measures sharpened cutting tools to verify conformance to specifications.
Maintains manual or computerized records of tooling procurement, status, and disposition information.
Reads blueprints and job orders to plan grinding sequence operations.
Selects grinding wheel of shape and grade and attaches to spindle.
Operates grinding equipment to produce cutting tools that conforms to required specifications.
High School Diploma or GED required
One to two years related experience and or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
